Invisalign is a way to correct misaligned teeth without having to wear traditional braces. Invisalign allows for more freedom and comfort but also requires you to use them correctly to get the desired results.
Way #1: Maximize Your Wear Time
First, you need to maximize your wear time. Ideally, you want to wear your aligners for all but about two hours of the day. As you take your aligners out to eat and take care of your oral hygiene, you will need to streamline your eating time.
It is best to stick to just eating main meals with aligners and to cut out snacking throughout the day. Too much snacking and food time will mean your aligners will not have enough time to work, and you will have to wear them for longer.
Way #2: Know When to Add Wear Time
With Invisalign, you are going to be given a box of aligners. You are supposed to wear each set for two weeks. However, if you are not putting in enough hours in the day, you will want to double the wear time for each set of aligners.
You want to make sure your teeth undergo the necessary movement before you move onto the next set. Failing to do so will damage the process.
Way #3: Keep That Old Set of Aligners
When you transition to a new set of aligners, keep your last set around. That way, if you misplace or damage your current set of aligners, you can put your old aligners back in place.
Now, your old aligners will not continue to move your teeth into a new position; you will need to wait for a replacement set for that to happen. However, by wearing your old aligners while you wait for a replacement set to be made, you can ensure that any progress you made was not lost.
Way #4: Use Your Cases
When you are given your Invisalign aligners, you will also be given two cases for your aligners. Use these cases to put your aligners in when you take them out for eating and cleaning purposes. Keep one container at home and one on your person when you are out of the house.
These cases can help protect you from setting down your aligner and losing in a napkin you throw away or by accidentally putting it in your pocket and misplacing it.
When it comes to being successful with Invisalign, you need to keep the aligners in as much as possible. If you don't wear them enough, extend the time you wear a particular set. Use your cases, and don't put your aligners anywhere but your cases when you take them off. Always keep your latest set of aligners as a back-up if something happens to your current set. Finally, keep up with your oral hygiene. Brush and floss and clean your aligners to prevent dental health issues.
